Özet:

This dissertation is an exhaustive economic and sociological investigation resting upon the supply shocks and outbreak economics with the political and economic ramifications of infamous pandemics in history, last one in particular, for various sets of countries in the axis of Central and Eastern European Developing Countries (CEE-DCs), e.g., Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Türkiye, addressing the profound socio-political and economic consequences of supply shocks triggering outbreaks, with an emphasis on the 2019-2020 global supply shock caused by COVID-19 pandemic. (...) A significant part and parcel of the analysis consists of the supply shock of interest incited by the outbreak through pandemic policies, vicissitudes in production and consumption and global value chain constraints, juxtaposing economic outputs of the shocks for developed, developing and CEE-DCs with varying severity of output oscillations, unemployment rate, inflation, interest, retail sales, fiscal responses etc., highlighting the People's Republic of China's economic resilience compared to its Western counterparts' based on the differences in political governance, mode of production, industrial structure, and heterogeneity in policy counteraction.
