Özet
Young adulthood is a stage of life characterized by significant life transitions such as achieving economic independence, building a family, and pursuing career goals, during which psycho-social stressors intensify. The risky health behaviors adopted and lifestyle habits established during this period lead to significant consequences in the long term, such as a decline in individuals’ quality of life, loss of workforce, an increase in the prevalence of chronic diseases, and an increased patient burden on the healthcare system. The literature identifies accidents and injuries, violence, suicidal tendencies, substance abuse, mental health disorders, sexually transmitted infections, obesity, environmental health problems, and digital addictions as priority health issues in young adulthood that carry mortality and morbidity risks. The lack of structured health policies and monitoring programs targeting young adulthood in Türkiye is noteworthy. Public health nurses play important roles in managing these risks at the primary, secondary, and tertiary levels of prevention.
