COVID-19 SÜRECİNDE MEDYANIN BİLGİLENDİRME ROLÜNDEKİ DEĞİŞİM: EĞİTİM HABERLERİ ÜZERİNE BİR İNCELEME

Özet

Küresel boyutta etki alanına sahip olan Covid-19 süreci, hayatın her alanını etkilemekle kalmayıp, dönüşüme uğratmıştır. Bu alanlardan biri de kuşkusuz eğitim olmuştur. Okulların kapanmasıyla yüzyüze eğitimin gerçekleşemediği bu süreçte eğitimin tüm paydaşları hızla adapte olması gereken pek çok yenilikle karşı karşıya kalmışlardır. Sınav dönemlerinde daha fazla gündeme gelen eğitim meseleleri, salgın koşullarıyla beraber gündemin tam ortasına yerleşmiştir. Çünkü salgın sonucu yaşanan kayıplar, eğitimin sadece sınavlardan ibaret olmadığını kanıtlamıştır. Yüz yüze eğitimin kesintiye uğramasıyla beraber öğrenciler, öğretmenler, veliler, eğitim kurumları anlık olarak yapılan açıklamaları ve süreçteki yenilikleri sürekli takip etmek zorunda kalmışlardır. Bu bağlamda en etkili haber alma araçlarından biri olan televizyon; günlük hayattaki tüm gelişmeleri izleyiciye aktarmaya çalışmıştır. Yaşanan bu küresel kriz döneminde kitle iletişim araçları da adeta bir sınav vererek; izleyicilerin toplumsal ve psikolojik gereksinimlerini karşılamak için çabalamışlardır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, Covid-19’un eğitim haberleri üzerindeki etkisini ana haber bültenleri üzerinden yapılan bir içerik analizi ile ortaya koymaktır. Bu bağlamda eğitim haberlerinin ana haber bültenlerindeki yeri; salgın öncesi ve salgın sonrası iki farklı dönem aralığında incelenerek, ortaya çıkan veriler karşılaştırılmıştır. Haberin yayınlandığı tarih, haberin gün içinde kaç kez gösterildiği, ana haberde yayınlanan haber sayısı ve habere ayrılan süre, bültende ilgili haberin kaçıncı sırada çıktığı, haberin konusu tespit edildikten sonra; haberin yer alma şekli incelenerek kategorize edilmiştir. Ortaya çıkan veriler ‘eğitim ekonomisi’, ‘eğitim ve sağlık’, ‘eğitim güvenliği’, ‘eğitimde resmi duyurular’ başlıkları altında incelenmiştir. Bulgular neticesinde ana haber bültenlerinde yer alan eğitim haberlerinin, yaşanan küresel salgın ile birlikte niceliksel ve niteliksel olarak anlamlı oranda artış gösterdiği tespit edilmiştir. Eğitimin işleyişinde bir milat niteliğinde olan Covid-19 salgınının medyada çıkan eğitim haberlerini de dönüştürdüğü sonucuna varılmıştır.
The Covid-19 process, which has a global impact, has not only affected every aspect of life, but transformed it. One of these aspects is undoubtedly education. In this process, where face-to-face education could not be realized upon the closure of schools, all stakeholders of education faced many innovations that needed to be adapted quickly. Educational issues, which come up particularly during exam periods, have been placed at the top of the agenda following the pandemic conditions. Because the losses experienced as a result of the epidemic have proven that education is not just about exams. With the interruption of face-to-face education, students, teachers, parents, educational institutions had to follow the instant statements and innovations in the process. In this context, television, which is one of the most effective means of getting news, has tried to convey all the developments in daily life to the audience. In this period of global crisis, the mass media was almost put to a test and tried to meet the social and psychological needs of the audience. The aim of this study is to reveal the effect of Covid-19 on education news with a content analysis made on the main news bulletins. In this context, the place of education news in the main news bulletins was examined in two different periods, before and after the epidemic, and the resulting data were compared. After the date of publication of the news, the number of times the news is shown during the day, the number of news published in the main news and the time allocated to the news, the rank of the news in the bulletin, and the subject of the news were determined; the way the news was included was analyzed and categorized. The resulting data were analyzed under the headings of ‘educational economics’, ‘education and health’, ‘educational security’, and ‘official announcements in education’. As a result of the findings, it was determined that the education news in the main news bulletins increased quantitatively and qualitatively with the pandemic. It has been concluded that the Covid-19 pandemic, which is a milestone in the functioning of education, has also transformed the education news in the media.
